We help leading individuals and organizations at national, state and community levels achieve their goals through planning and design, facilitation and convenings, strategic consulting and positioning, policy development and advocacy, research and outreach, and community engagement.

) Collaborative worked with Public Education Network (PEN) to produce a Civic Index for Quality Public Education to measure community support for public schools. PEN released this first-of-its-kind tool at the National Press Club in June 2008, along with results from its national poll on how well the nation is supporting our public schools. ) The Collaborative-designed National Art Education Association publication, The Impact of Early Art Experiences on Literacy Development, has won a Washington Book Publishers 2008 Book Design & Effectiveness Award. This award acknowledges the careful consideration given to how the content drives the design of the book, resulting in a more effective publication. More...

) Collaborative is working with the MetroHartford Alliance in Connecticut to recruit a new Executive Director to lead this newly-formed local education fund dedicated to building community responsibility for public education. More...

) The Council of Chief State School Officers and Collaborative worked together to produce a Web portal to inform state government leaders about what works in secondary school redesign. The Web portal was recognized by Summit International Awards for creativity and excellence in Web site design. More...

) Collaborative partnered with the Council of Chief State School Officers and the U.S. Department of Education for the 2008 Meeting of the State Education Agencies (SEAs). The convening brought together representatives from SEAs to help them understand the key components of 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Supplemental Educational Services, and to consider how administrators of these programs might coordinate and collaborate across federal and state programs. ) Updated and Expanded Standards for Principals 
The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) has released newly updated and expanded standards for principals as part of its Leading Learning Community series. The revised standards—which Collaborative worked with NAESP to develop—will help principals navigate increasingly rapid changes in education and society, and embrace the challenging and complex role of "lead instructor" in helping all students achieve. This new National Association of Elementary School Principals publication, written by Collaborative and released in April 2008, previews these changes.
