Elizabeth Gossens, Associate

Elizabeth Gossens assists co-workers across the firm to ensure the success of both short and long term client-based initiatives. Working on many levels and often on many different projects, Elizabeth uses her skills in marketing, conference registration and logistics, writing and editing, print and electronic material production, project management and client satisfaction to support her colleagues and the company’s clients. Her primary focus is on Network Development initiatives, working specifically on the Harvard Graduate School of Education Innovations in Education Convening, a webinar series for the National Education Association Foundation, and marketing strategy for an upcoming summit hosted by the National Center for Time and Learning.

Before coming to Collaborative, Elizabeth was the Program Associate for Early Start, a K-3 after school program operated by Jubilee Housing in Washington, DC. She helped develop an Academic Advocacy guide for parents, facilitated in the implementation of a robust curriculum using DCPS and national learning standards, and assisted in running a daily afterschool and summer program. During this time, Elizabeth also was a part time communications associate at a Washington-based consulting firm, MPG Advisors.

Elizabeth’s first experience in the field of education came after graduating from high school, when she became a sailing instructor with a new non-profit, Kids Set Sail. After three summers of teaching at-risk D.C. youth valuable life skills coupled with the excitement of sailing, she was promoted to Program Director. In this role, Elizabeth redesigned and led the fundraising and outreach initiatives, created a new sailing and leadership curriculum, hired and managed instructor staff and helped the program have its most successful summer to that point.

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s of the Arts degree in Theatre Studies from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She is a lifelong resident of the District of Columbia.
