Emerald Becker, Associate

Emerald Becker works across the firm to manage Web-related projects, conference planning and publication work. By understanding the context, details and ideas that support and extend her projects, she assists her clients in strengthening their impact and promoting high-quality education reform.

Her recent projects include developing an online mapping tool that displays cutting edge education innovation efforts throughout the country, managing the redevelopment of The Power of Afterschool and the Future of Learning website for the statewide afterschool networks and leading publication development for the annual National Charter Schools Conference.

Prior to joining Collaborative, Becker was an education writer for a Web-based organization that promotes reader activism through social media and she has extensive research experience in family engagement and early childhood education. Becker also previously served as an AmeriCorps VISTA for an out-of-school time academic enrichment program for low-income middle school students in Washington, DC. During her service, she engaged communities from various DC neighborhoods to build capacity and map resources for the organization. Becker has experience teaching English in Ecuador and she studied the impact of vocational education programs for young women in India.

Becker holds a master’s degree in international education from American University in Washington, DC and received a bachelor’s degree in comparative history from the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington.
