Collaborative Communications Group was pleased to welcome education leaders from across the sector to the release of For Every Child, Multiple Measures: What Parents and Educators Want from K-12 Assessments, a new study from NWEA and Grunwald Associates.

Rep. Tom Petri (WI-6), NWEA President Matt Chapman and Grunwald Associates LLC President Peter Grunwald spoke to the findings of this groundbreaking study, brought to life through discussion among educator and parent panelists.

You can download a copy of the study and explore related materials, including a video and an infographic [pdf], on NWEA’s website.  We encourage you to share the findings and continue the dialogue on Facebook and Twitter.

For Every Child, Multiple Measures has been featured in Education Week, Getting Smart, and NEA Today.

The results underscore parents and educators’ desire for timely, actionable assessments that monitor individual student performance and progress across a range of subjects and skills to help improve teaching and learning.

Key findings from the study include:

  • Child-centered teaching and learning is a top priority for parents and educators.
  • Parents, teachers and district administrators think it's important to measure student performance in a full range of subjects—and in the "thinking" skills that will be critical in life.
  • Parents, teachers and district administrators agree on local decision-making about teaching and learning.
  • Formative and interim assessments are perceived as more valuable by parents and educators.
  • For parents, assessment results begin to lose relevance within one month of administration.
